Claire Porter / PORTABLES offers a series of comedic movement monologues. Porter's new Namely, Muscles is a one-hour, one-woman, seriously silly play, with Porter portraying Dr. Nickie Nom, Forensic Orthopedic Autopsy Muscular Anatomical Surgical Specialist (for the County) giving a reading from her new book of poems, “Namely, Muscles.” Thirty plus poems enact 96 major muscles of the body, and then some. Poems include "Psoas - The Tender Bender," "Gluteus to my Ears," "Long in the Head," "Just the Meat, "The Rotator Gang," "Names on your Nerves," "A Word From Our Tendons," and many more.

"Wickedly funny… Porter, mistress of the short, sharp character portrait, is that rare breed - nimble witty comedian. A soloist with a neat collection of personas, Porter sketches them with the perfect physical gesture ... Porter is always delightful, often wickedly funny."
Sally Sommer, The Village Voice
