Japanese born choreographers/dancers, Eiko & Koma create a unique and riveting theater of movement out of stillness, shape, light and sound. Much honored for their exquisitely wrought productions, they continue to explore new challenges while bringing their artistry to new environments and new audiences. During the past ten years Eiko & Koma have created and presented site works as free-admission events at dozens of sites for over 30,000 audience members. Their latest stage work, Cambodian Stories: An Offering of Painting and Dance was a collaboration with nine young Cambodian painters turned performers. The work toured to eleven US cities in spring 2006. Recipients of Guggenheim and MacArthur Fellowships as well as two "Bessies," Eiko & Koma were honored with the 2004 Samuel H. Scripps American Dance Festival Award for lifetime achievement in modern dance.

" I don't think anyone in the theater dared to breathe... For Eiko & Koma, every movement arises from an emotion or prepares us for one. Nothing looks too symbolic or virtuosic. Nothing is extraneous to the story. And through it all there is the pure beauty of dance, of bodies attuned to music, to one another and to the space they live in."
Margo Jefferson, The New York Times

"Their hypnotic pace drives distractions from your mind, frees it to flood with images, etched by these human archetypes". Dance Magazine
