Israeli-born Zvi Gotheiner transmutes modern, traditional, gestural and verbal elements into an emotionally charged world of full-bodied movement, at once edgy and accessible, for his company of ten athletic, fleet and lyrical dancers.

Repertory:
Territories takes a penetrating look, by turns poignant and pointed, at the ways our boundaries divide us from one another. Zvi’s powerful dancers evoke in word and movement the ways we measure ourselves by yardsticks of race, class, language, culture, gender and religion. “Big, luscious dancing…. Territories speaks so eloquently of individuality and cooperation.”
Deborah Jowitt, The Village Voice

The Amber Room deconstructs what it might mean to possess a work of art. The original Amber Room was formed of sculpted amber panels given by Wilhelm I of Prussia to Peter the Great. The Nazis dismantled it during World War II and hauled it away. It hasn’t been seen since. Zvi the magician conjures it up in dance. “The masterful choreography radiates pride and defiance, and as long as it lasts, that lost artwork seems to reassemble and shine." Deborah Jowitt, The Village Voice

12A is about our fears and anxieties. The title evokes our superstitions about the number thirteen. Score: Bach and Scott Killian.

Les Noces takes a 21st-century look at the institution of marriage, reanimating the transgressive paganism of the Stravinsky score and putting into question what time and tradition have consecrated.
