Help Desk

Pentacle inaugurated Help Desk as a pilot program in 1998 as a response to the increasing pressures felt by emerging and mid-career dance artists as they build their professional lives. The goal of Help Desk is to develop these artists' infrastructures so that they can maintain a stable professional base, from which they may nurture their creative process.

Focusing on a relationship between artist and mentor, Help Desk has evolved into a multi-faceted project, fluid enough to allow participating artists to focus on basic issues and projects that will have a lasting effect on their professional lives. The Help Desk has several services that provide resources to assist artists in strengthening their professional infrastructure and administrative skill base, including monthly meetings, 1-on-1 mentoring, financial resources and subsidy support, tutorial workshops, a presenter database, and access to a communication network. Over the past six years, Help Desk has worked with 48 artists and seven mentors. In addition to working with artists to achieve their individual goals, Help Desk participants have grown into a dynamic supportive community of artists and administrators which is unique to the field.
