Cultivating Leadership in Dance Internship Program  March 23rd - May 25th 2011

"Participating in the Cultivating Leadership in Dance Internship Program

solidified my desire to work in arts administration."

CULTIVATING LEADERSHIP IN DANCE provides an unparalleled opportunity for interns to receive the benefits of a structured internship program, while working intimately with emerging, unique choreographers who could not provide an internship program on their own.

Benefits to the participating intern include:

  • Weekly evening workshops on topics in arts administration and career exploration
  • A network of interns working for other dance companies
  • A clear work plan outlining your responsibilities

Dance companies will want a commitment of at least ten hours a week over an eight-week period,

March 23rd - May 25th, 2011 (excluding Spring Break April 18-29). Work responsibilities include assistance with archival projects, development research, tour management, production preparation, collaboration on website development and other projects specific to the company or choreographer.

This is a part-time, unpaid internship; however, college credit can be arranged. At the completion of the initial eight-week period, companies/interns may apply for a stipend to continue their partnership.

Pentacle is a performing arts service organization with over 35 years of experience working closely with vibrant and diverse dance and performance artists. Pentacle's Educational Programming has a celebrated history of teaching students about all of the available careers in dance.

If you are interested in participating, please send a resume and a cover letter outlining your interest in arts administration to education@pentacle.org. Candidates whose interest and availability matches with participating companies will be contacted for an interview.

Submissions will be reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis.
