white road Dance Media performs the work of Director Marisa Gruneberg, a choreographer and filmmaker creating work in New York City. Marisa’s passion is building new worlds with moving images, stating that, “Place and identity are very important to me when I’m making a new work – building the world, its bones and roots, its texture and how it ultimately feels.”

white road Dance Media (wrDM) was founded by choreographer, performer, film director and puppeteer Marisa Gruneberg in 2003. Since then the company has had Marisa’s dance works presented by WAX, the 92 Street Y, Mulberry Street Theatre, and Joyce SoHo and produced by the Carver Center, DNA, CoolNY Dance Festival, the Comedy in Dance Festival, the Hoover Dam Collective, the Hudson River Summer Series and Triskelion Arts. Marisa is a former member of Boston’s hoi polloi under the direction of Sara Sweet Rabidoux and has performed in NYC for Abby Bender, Steven Koplowitz, and Cirque This; in Austin, TX she has performed in Trouble Puppet’s The Jungle and Frankenstein under the direction of Connor Hopkins.

wrDM has presented throughout the New York metropolitan area, including the 92 Street Y, Mulberry Street Theatre and Joyce SoHo. Work has been produced by the Carver Center, Dixon Place, DNA, CoolNY Dance Festival, the Comedy in Dance Festival, the Hoover Dam Collective, the Hudson River Summer Series and Triskelion Arts. wrDM’s most recent performances include “Evergreen” (April 2013) and “Hoarse” (February 2014), both original works produced by Triskelion Arts in Brooklyn, the company’s unofficial home base. wrDM is committed to creating and performing contemporary dance work that is intellectual, accessible, and artistically refined. Movement is everything, exploration is a must, and new territory demands our attention.
