As a performing arts service organization who has served the community for 35 years, Pentacle has a strong reputation within the professional dance community and is eager to share with the field the expertise we have gained in working with school faculty and teaching students about careers in the arts.

Pentacle is currently developing a professional development curriculum that will train dance teachers to teach students about the full spectrum of careers in dance and provide them with strategies for involving students in production responsibilities as learning opportunities. This curriculum, which teaches students through hands-on opportunities, is based on Pentacle’s current Behind the Scenes in-school partnerships.

Behind the Scenes includes units in Administration & Management, Development, Marketing and Production, all of which are in alignment with the New York State Learning Standards and the New York City Blueprint for Teaching and Learning in the Arts.

The professional development curriculum will encompass best practices and utilize in-school dance specialists who have participated as partners in the development and delivery of the curriculum. Pentacle plans to create a program that will be flexible enough to be delivered in a variety of settings.

Pentacle thanks The Dana Foundation and the Technical Assistance Program grant from Partners for Arts Education for its generous support for its Professional Development program.
