“I liked Behind the Scenes because you showed us that when you have a performance, there’s a lot that happens before and during the show. There’s a lot more people included.”
“Behind the Scenes applies to my future because I learned about working with other people in a group and cooperating.”

Increased appreciation for the diversity of jobs in the performing arts. Increased understanding of how the arts can be a part of their lives. The ability to articulate their artistic vision in different media and contexts. Increased confidence, self-determination, and empowerment about their personal future and pursuing their passions. Increased critical thinking, leadership, teamwork, planning, problem solving, communication and management skills. Pentacle’s Educational Programming meets the benchmarks of the New York State Learning Standards for the Arts and the New York City Department of Educational Blueprint for Teaching and Learning in the Arts.
BRING IN BEHIND THE SCENES TO YOUR SCHOOL!Pentacle’s expert team of mentors, administrators, and consultants works closely with each school to tailor the program to meet the school’s specific needs. The curriculum is taught in tandem with a creative project or show chosen and monitored by school faculty. The program offers a true working partnership between the school and Pentacle, bringing the professional dance world into direct connection with the school. Behind the Scenes launched in 2003, Pentacle’s current long-term school partners include: Frank Sinatra School of the Arts High School in Long Island City, Queens; Washington Irving High School in Union Square, Manhattan and the Bronx Dance Academy (MS 308) in Woodlawn, Bronx. Pentacle is a New York City Department of Education Vendor and holds a contract to provide Arts Education Services.

“I understood that you don’t have to be the main person at the show to shine and be important – because it’s the people behind the scenes that make the show.”
“It helped me a lot on deciding what I want to do”

Pentacle created its first workshop, A Life in the Arts, at the invitation of the New York City Department of Education for its Summer Arts Institute. Since its inception, our workshops set aside time for students to learn about and reflect on the possibilities for pursuing the arts as their focus in higher education and into their professional lives.
Introducing students to all the careers available in the arts, workshops can focus on any artistic discipline: dance, theater, music, film, visual arts and photography. The program can be offered during the school year in workshop format or as a complement to middle or high school summer arts programming. Pentacle can tailor the program to the particular needs of your school.
