Corbindances - About
CorbinDances, founded by one of the most beloved dancers in the Paul Talyor Dance Company, and now a proven choreographer in his own right, Patrick Corbin, embraces modern, contemporary and ballet disciplines. The company's repertory range from lyrical and visceral to intellectual, exploring the poetics of the human experience - loss, joy, detachment, isolation.
Patrick Corbin's work has an infectious madness full of candor, poetry and heart-felt depth. As Artistic Director of CorbinDances, he works to expand both the definition of and audience for dance. With a keen sense of staging that makes his work joyous and intimate, he infuses a background in classical ballet with modern rhythms of music, urban culture and life.
The company's artistic vision is of a movement think tank encouraging collaborations with writers, directors, lighting designers, visual artists, and musicians. CorbinDances reaches out to new audiences using music that relates to different generations, calling it "Moby meets the Met".

REACH
Reach is a work of sweeping movement set to the music of Philip Glass. The dancers fly through the air with torrents of passion.
"Patrick Corbin, veteran of both the Joffrey Ballet and the Paul Taylor Dance Company, makes big dances for powerful performers... Corbin's
Reach mobilizes a cast of nine in artfully tattered jersey accompanied by Philip Glass's String Quartet No. 5. The piece highlights what is coming to seem like his pell-mell headlong style, with dancers hurtling through space and sliding along the floor... At it's conclusion the room shook and the audience cheered."- Elizabeth Zimmer, Metro
