Same Spirit Different Movement II: IMpossible IZZpossible
IMpossible IZZpossible celebrates the art and movement of hip-hop and includes a funky blend of locking, breaking, popping, tap and house dancing, vocal percussions, DJing, blending both modern and traditional dance forms. The work emphasizes hip-hop’s use of similar steps to those found in ballet, modern and other, more traditional dance forms, adding an urban style to them to create new steps.

Become Your Dreams: The History of Hip HopThe history of hip-hop dance as well as other styles of dance performed by the company are explained and demonstrated. The audience will also learn about the role of the DJ, Beatboxer, and MC. At the end of the  lecture-demonstration the group invites a few audience members on stage to perform some moves with them. Target audiences are both children and adults.  Length: 45 min to 1 hour.

No Bullying, Stop Bullying…And Let’s Be Friends!

This high energy dance show with audience participation is a prevention against violence and how bullying can take a toll on people but showing that by keeping positive influences around bullies, then bullies themselves can change and become positive.  This high-energy mix of music, slapstick comedy, animated story-telling and spot on application will captivate both students and adults.  Appropriate for elementary and middle school students.

Master Classes

Master classes are fun and challenging classes which will introduce students (both children and adults) to various dance styles such as B-Boying/B-Girling (often misunderstood as breakdancing), hip-hop, modern, jazz, African, and more. The instructor will define the basic movements and techniques, teach them to the students, and develop the movements into combinations for practice. Master classes promote and develop strength, stamina, balance, and flexibility needed for these styles of dance.

Length: 1 to 2 hours.

There is a well developed, cohesive Same Spirit Different Movement performance study guide available for younger, school age audiences at lecture demonstrations and school shows.
