H.T. Chen & Dancers Previews South of Gold Mountain Before its Spring Tour

HT Chen & Dancers

Join us for a sneak peek performance of H.T. Chen & Dancers‘ newest work, South of Gold Mountain, before it’s upcoming Spring tour. The product of an enduring research process throughout the Southern states, South of Gold Mountain is a multimedia work that centers on the Chinese American communities who immigrated to the South in the late 19th to early 20th centuries, entranced to America by the “promise of gold and committed to making a better life for their families.”

H.T. Chen, whose work is known for its “evocative, invented culture-world that shares ancient Chinese traditions with modern Western sensibility” (The Birmingham News), continues to blend unlikely cultural pillars with his latest work’s sound score of traditional Chinese music and Deep South Blues. Performances are at 7pm from November 20th-22nd, at Chen Dance Center (70 Mulberry Street, 2nd Floor in NYC).
