The Business of Art: Pentacle’s Spring Internship Program

Pentacle’s Cultivating Leadership in Dance provides an unparalleled opportunity for interns to learn the ins-and-outs of arts administration while working directly under a professional dance artist/choreographer or non-profit organization. Pentacle interviews both the interns and participating artists/organizations in order to create a program experience that is rewarding and useful to intern and company alike.

CLD is an 8-week program, where interns work with the company for 10 hours each week. In addition to this hands-on experience, interns will take part in weekly training seminars, joined by guest speakers who hold expertise in arts administration. Previous seminar topics have included marketing, dance on camera/video dance, development and fundraising, fiscal and budgeting, dance writing, and representation/booking. The session culminates with a fundraiser organized and produced by our CLD interns.  Upon completion of the program, interns may have opportunities for further employment or internship extensions!

Friday February 5 will be the final day that we accept prospective intern applications for the Spring 2016 Session, March 14th- May 8th.  If you are interested in applying as an intern, email your resume and completed Intern Questionnaire to Alex M Schell, Program Administrator of CLD, at Spring 2016 Deadline Friday, February 5th. Qualified candidates will be contacted for an interview.

At this time, spots for participating companies are already full.  If you are interested, we encourage you to send a completed Company Questionnaire to Alex M Schell at, so that you can be added to our wait list.

As demand for the CLD program grows, our CLD team is growing with it!  Clarissa Soto will continue to lead the program as Director of Cultivating Leadership in Dance. Quincie Hydock steps into the role of Program Coordinator, and Pentacle welcomes out newest team member, Alex M Schell, as Program Administrator.
